TR2/3/3A TR2 color questions

Just a fun fact on signal red , GM still paints cars in a color with the identical formula.
Did a Mini for a guy several years back. He wanted it to be Miata red. When stripped down to
the original color, it mapped out to have always been Miata red!! So I guess some colors
never go out of style.

I agree about the look of two-stage on early cars. I will talk to the guys at the paint store and see what they recommend. I have very limited painting experience, repainting a friend's 8N tractor a couple years ago is pretty much it. Other posts have referred to a 1966 Mercedes Signal Red, and a Jaguar red as being real close to the Triumph color, with paint codes available. If the paint store can match the ST-32 code, that's my first choice.
Thanks for the feedback!

One nice thing about the TR3 is that you can practice on small pieces, bonnet, boot lid, doors etc. without wasting a lot of paint (red is one of the more expensive colors). Doing a whole car also requires lots of dry air too.

A note on my search for the Signal Red color code: The link provided by carpecurusII seems to be the ticket. From the paint chip chart on the Vintage Triumph Register site linked, I printed the chart and took it with me to the paint shop. They said they could not find the Standard Triumph 32 code, or the PPG Ditzler code 70966 I gave them. They did, however, find the Dupont Dulux code 83733H by dropping off the "H" and entering numbers only. They said they could mix it from that code in a single stage only, and the quoted price was $697 per gallon, including the required reducer and activator. If I wanted it in a dual-stage basecoat/clear, they said they could mix a quart of single stage, then lazer scan that to get the dual stage.
Thanks Again for all your input!
Phil
