TR ^ Hardtop

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Here it is in my garage... Looks like it only lacks the right side chrome strip and dog leg and one of the distance tubes, and all of the mounting hardware. The headliner is torn in several areas and will need to be replaced. but as far as metal and glass and headliner hardware, this is in great shape. I'm curious to know HOW it is mounted to the car. Does the convertible top need to be removed?

As nice as the inside was, I'm definitely appreciating the outside pictures more. Very nice!

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

John,
That hardtop is a twin to the one I will sell. Looks to be the exact sme color and is also missing the chrome on the corner. Two long bolts go thru the WS frame at front to hold it on. Two bolts and carriers on the side B posts ( back of doors) will hold it on. You can put two more in the rear window area but they are a pain. Top will go on w/o removing the ragtop. Years age I would pull the top off because it gave you more room behind the seats. I don't drive it as much in the winter months so I leave the conv top in place.

Are there holes already there, or do they need to be drilled? Is the top secure enough without those last two? And you say the soft top does not need to be removed, but does it have to be unfastened at the back border? I'm having trouble picturing how the hardtop postitions itself in relation to the soft top.

Someone ought to post a video on YouTube showing their hardtop installation procedure!
