TR ^ Hardtop

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Oh man....ooooh man......I may have to jump on this if no one else is.

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Hey Paul, it's Yellow. Ya need a spare?

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

With Fleabay going @ $1000 most of the time...This is a deal for some one. Gil NoCal

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

I'd say you better jump on it fast although you have to wonder why no pictures of the outside?

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Ya gotta expect to repaint it anyway, so as long as it's not horribly dented, or rusted through the paint doesn't really matter. Still, I thought the same. 4 detail shots, but no shot of the overall piece.
Those are nice fitting tops. If it just needs a repaint and some gaskets, It's worth $500.

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

If I was on the side of the world and needed one, I'd grab it.

Don, I'm looking at some shiny new Offy valve covers for the TR8 right now, since my hardtop plate is full.

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Hardtops or valve covers? You have any pictures? PM me. if so.

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Here is a photo of the ONE time I had the hardtop on the car. IMO, it just took up basement space.

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

I've got my hardtop just about ready for paint, all new seals etc, just missing a few chrome pieces. That said, I'm keeping my eyes out for a spare shell for cheap. I want to experiment with trying to make a surrey / targa top for a TR6 with the factory steel top. Surrey tops look ok on a tr6, but the factory steel top is more aggressive and fitting IMO, but I love the convenience of the surrey top too, fixed back side, removable top + soft top.

I've also got an original parrish plastics TR4, 250, 6 hard top. Period correct (was bought new with the TR6 owned by a guy down the road from me, and he's still got the 6) Which looks just like a surrey with the hard top attached permanently.

Need to paint the parrish one as well. It was unused for almost 40 years, but it's got some scuffs and chips in the white paint that's on it from being bumped around in his garage for 40 years =)

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

I'm off to have a look at it, and hopefully buy it, right now...
stay tuned...

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Dan, where was that picture taken in PA? That brings back memories of my home town area near Johnstown.

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

Bought it! I think it was a really good deal. I guess I'll know for sure when I start seeing what parts it needs to be useable, but as far as I could tell it was in really good condition. If I had a Mimosa car, I could easily get away without painting it. Not sure how Damson and Mimosa will go together however. The guy who had it acquired it in one of those storage unit auctions and originally decided it must be for an MG, but was later informed otherwise. So I'm excited about the prospect of fixing it to match and fit my car. Paul, your website shall be accessed frequently. Thanks for the heads-up on this one Gil!

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

John, you didn't ask him if there was a 6 in there with it, did you?

Re: TR ^ Hardtop

That photo was not too far from the Rose Valley Hill Climb, North of Williamsport. IMO, PA has some of the best sports car roads in the nation. I was thinking about sponsoring a road rally in that area, maybe ending at Watkins Glen. That's a bit down the road, though.

Here's another one driving up Pine Creek. I guess I'll need to start a new string if you want to go through my camera roll.
