How does a Triumph hard top mount? Bolts, clips or ??? PJ

Which Triumph? My TR3 hardtop uses bolts, while the Stags have several different kinds of latches.

Randall, I acquired a top by swapping some parts and thought it was for an MGB. After getting it home, I found out it's for another car but not sure which one, I'm told possibly for a Triumph. I'll take photos today and get some measurements to post later in the day. PJ

If its the one Mightymidget had a picture of, I'm not sure if its a Triumph top. It looks a little long to fit a TR4 or TR6 (same top) but it could be. Not familiar with that aftermarket top. Normally they mount with two bolts in the front that go thru the windshield frame up into the top. Also a J bolt or turnbuckle on the door post to pull the top down.

Well guys, here's some photos of the top with a couple of measurements for the holes in the mounting plates. It's an honest mistake, as the gentleman I got it from wasn't sure what it was for either. I thought it was for a "B", but no big deal, as I'm a pack rat anyway. I'd just like to know what it's for. The windows are glass also, not plastic. If I have the time,I might just restore it for the fun of it. I am definitely into challenges! :jester:

Paul,

Haven't measured anything here but it looks like it is a top for a TR4 or TR6 from the inside mounting photo's you posted. Now you need a car to go with it. I happen to know where there is a TR4 & TR6.

Datsun roadster (1600/2000) top?

It would help to have more dimensions like around the door window (length and height), the front to back length and the length of the section under the porthole windows.

Here's another photo. I have posted this on the MG forum also. The door glass seems to move in a rearward motion when cranked up approx 1 3/8 inches. The four mounts have holes in them for bolts. There are no latches, as on a "B" top. The overall length of 52 inches, is from the most rearward position to the approximate center of the windshield rubber.

The more I look at it, the more I think it is the Datsun 1600

You might be right. This one looks very similar.

I agree, it sure does look like the top you show. Now I need to find a 1600 to check measurements. Someday someone will pop up and say, hey, that'll fit my car! At least I'll know what it's for. Thanks guys, seems like were making progress, even though the port hole looks smaller.

Here's a shot of the hold down plates. The hole centers are the width as in an earlier photo. PJ

Oh, I forgot to mention it but, if anyone wants this top a 100 bucks will take it, but I won't ship it or deliver it! PJ
