Would appreciate an opinion on Ebay # 4534541446 and whether this is likely to be a reasonable modification. I do not know anything about 7's, and what this would do to handling, etc. This is the second time for this car, did not draw a bid the first time. Strikes me they must have almost the asking price in the conversion. ??????/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
 
Dart, the Buick V6 is a common conversion in the 7. John's cars in Texas has a conversion kit minus motor\tranny and some odds and ends. I know the front springs would need upgrading and i sure would upgrade the brakes over the standard 7 setup. I have been suprised no one has placed a bid on it. Sure wouldn't hurt to ask the guy some questions if you are interested. I have ridden in a 7-V6 converson. I would say it's kick arse!!
 
Hmmmm. Always hard to say. But here are the down points for this.

1) It has an engine transplant of a unit not originally designed for the TR7. This can be fine but you have no indication of the quality of the installation. No matter what they say, V6 upgrades do not add to the value.

2) "Restoration not complete, great project car" begs alot of questions. The devil is in the details for any restoration. I see rust in the inner wing.

3) It's called "driveable" but there are no plates on it.

4) The descriptions are pretty vague/short. This doesn't appear to be sold by an enthusiast or someone knowledegable about this model.

$3K = OK price, not a steal by any means, and OK only if this car holds no surprises.
 
Thank you both for that input. I suspect the inadequate listing is why no bids first time, and since not close enough for me to look at without some expense in $$ and time, will stay on the sidelines and watch.
 
there's a tr7 with a chevy 350 conversion on "craig's list" in portland oregon. another project car. price is down to $200. i think most people mis-trust conversions without being able to see the work.
 
Dart, the guy dropped the price down to 2,000 this morning. Makes it a little more appealing. I have to agree with Michael also. The extra power is nice, but i had rather have a stock 2.0 add header, free flow exhaust, electric cooling fan. When the 2.0 goes south then you can look at your options. And the best part is you know your car and what you've got. jb
