TR6 TR 6 Engine rebuild/freshen

Re: Update- starter issue TR 6 Engine rebuild/freshen

Hi,

I have the engine all hooked up, turned it over for what seemed like forever, with the plugs out, to get oil pressure. So far all good. Has 50# pressure on the starter. Put plugs in, pull choke and it wants to start, so that's good. Have a little leak from th fuel pump. May need to put a gasket in it and redo connections.

Problem I have is the starter continues to run in the on ignition position. I didn't disconnect the wiring from the ignition switch, only wires that came off were the ones on the starter, alternator, oil pressure switch, those in the engine compartment. I also disconnected the wires on the transmission. Could it be if I didn't get those on the switch right that would cause the starter to keep turning?

I'm so close. Any ideas what would cause this and more important, how to cure it?

I'd be interested in what you find in #1.
Here's what was in number one cylinder.

Not sure what caused it. It still ran well on the remaining 5 cylinders.
