TR4/4A Tr 4a Tonneau zipper repair

Has anyone repair a tonneau cover zipper, the carriage pulled away and will not close the zipper. Dumb me, I forced it w/o lubrication.
I know it can be replaced but I prefer to reassemble it, if possible. It is a nice original heavy duty?? zipper.
I appreciate all your comments.

Can't help with your repair, but for lube I run a white stick candle back and forth along the teeth of the zipper. Work great.
 
I wasn't able to repair my 3A zipper myself, but found a local upholster who had a heavy duty zipper in stock, and replaced it for a nominal cost.
 
I have sometimes been able to get a zipper back on track by forcing it back to the start, then using a hammer and drift (lightly) to make the tail section clamp down better. May be necessary to stitch together the very start if you can not get enagement of the first few teeth. But better yet, the suggestion to take it to a shoe/luggage repair shop (if you can find one) is the way to go.

For lubing I use this:

Goes on as a liquid but the carrier quickly evaporates leaving wax on the zipper. Some hardware stores carry it, most bike shops do (for chains).
 
Had the zipper repaired for $ 25. To slide carriage off the zipper , the shop unstiched about 6 inches from the " zipper fully open end"; the carriage slid off with the last two inches with some effort. An used zipper carriage was installed and zipper restiched.
