How come, when I bought my car & spares it came with 8 wiper motors? Are they prone to failure? If not I will have some for sale.
 
I wouldn't say they are overly prone to failure, but they do need the brushes changed and the bearings lubricated every blue moon or so. I'm not sure if you can even buy the brushes and little bits that get lost any more.
 
Rebuilding my wiper motor with parts from a wrecking yard donor was one of the first jobs I did on my TR4A. Looks like Moss Motors has the brush carbon blocks only but they are $19.65 (554-035)!
