Good grief. I think I'll follow this and see what it sells for. If it sells.

If he gets that price, then I have to rethink the value of my TR3's factory hardtop.
 
I saw that but wasn't really appalled by the price. If someone wants an original (not a fiberglass repro) I think they're going to have to pay.

Compared to Healey & Jaguar hard tops... TR 'surrey' tops are almost affordable.
 
Does the rubber snake on the dash go with it. I sold an Alum surrey top 2 years ago for $1500, thought that was a very good price then. Should of waited.

I have been watching this one also. The price is about right, to much for me, but I think he will get it.

Toyed with the idea of adding one to my TR4A. I think they look awesome on the TR4's but have never driven one to see how different it rides with the back glass.

Probably much quicker due to how empty the wallet will be!
 
I installed one after 40 years with a soft top. I like it a lot, less noise, fewer rattles, stifens the car, and looks great. I bought a car with the top which was in bad shape, the aluminum was badly dented, sold the car and had the top repaired. Cost some money in the end even with all of the dealing I did but no where near this asking price. Having said that he's a little high in my opinion but may well get his price. I wonder if buying the as original repros from England would be less expensive?
 
When I first saw this a couple of days ago, it was with absolute slack jawed amazement. Now that I have finally been able to lift my chin up from the floor, I can't help but think about how I gave one of these away several years ago to friend for his TR-250. I knew that it was desirable and worth "some" money but never dreamed that one might be worth any where near the price shown for this auction.

Two hours to go and no bids. Wonder if someone is actually interested enough in the top, to pay the price.


 
Yes, he might have been better served to have listed with a lower starting bid and a reserve -- that way you at least end up in a discussion with the high bidder.

OTOH, if he is in no hurry (and why would he be after all this time?) he can relist it ad infinitum and eventually a buyer will find him.
