TR5/TR250 tr 4/ 250 scuttle vent gasket

just installed a new fresh air gasket on the 250
purchased from TRF as listed in the red book
and it does not let the lid close flat with the surrounding area. Good in the rear but slightly lifted up in the front

is this an item that needs to be trimmed ?

if so, the top portion or bottom as they are both the same ??

sorry for all the post just working to make a good showing at the STL Easter car show

Hi Tony-

I have the same problem on my TR4, I'm hoping over time the gasket will compress properly. In your case with the show coming on, I'd check first where you think the interference might be occuring - if the bottom flange part of the gasket is too long that would probably be the best cosmetic area to trim.

Another possibility I've heard is to try to compress the gasket between two plates, put it in the freezer, etc. - but I don't have the experience on that one to say if it works or not.

glad to hear I am not alone
I am going to call Dave @ TRF today
will let you know what I find out

The TRF phone (Tech Dept) is/ has been giving a busy signal thru out the day

will give it a shot Monday

When I did mine I sat the car in the sun then placed a brick wrapped in a towel on top it was OK. If it still seems a little high maybe try using a heavier brick
I wonder if throwing the gasket in boiling water first wouldn't assist with the as yet unpatented brick process ...

I trimmed mine but can't remember what I trimmed to make it fit properly. The lid fits nice and flat now. I don't think it took much to figure out what to trim.
