TR2/3/3A TR-3a scuttle vent assembly question

Hi all,
Went to re-assemble the scuttle vent and can see that there must be a real trick and / or a correct sequence to getting it all back together. I am not willing to have 3 fingers removed to allow my hand to fit in there so what is the other option?
Big thanks in advance!
Tim

Aloha Tim,

This is not an impossible task, but a helper is handy. I have found that disconnecting the flat bar from the actuating mechanism and the vent door will allow for a larger opening to work in. Originally, I believe the upper (door end) was riveted but you may find a bolt there which should make it easy to remove. If it is riveted then the other end is attached with a machine screw that is a bit harder to remove.

The helper makes it easier to get the push/pull rod into the actuator mechanism.

Take a look at my stuff for a solution at Bob_Burt starting 10/27/07 for the same problem. It's not as big a deal as I thought it was.

Isn't this site great? Wish I knew how to tie all this stuff together.
