TR2/3/3A TR-3A accelerator return spring

The carburetors are installed and the linkages are connected on my TR-3a. However, I'm at a loss as to where the forward end of the accelerator return spring is supposed to be attached. In the screen capture from Moss below, the spring is item 13. The original spring that I have has a squared off end which I must assume goes through the hole in the arm (not numbered) to the left of #12. So the question is, what does the other end connect to. I can't seem to find anything in that area which would serve as a connecting point. I've also posted a photo of the arm. You can see the hole about a third of the way up from the horizontal bar.

There should be a small tab on the firewall below the throttle shaft. See picture.

My tab looks a bit different, but that's the right idea.

Joe...

Looks like that tab got lost in the various layers of paint. Maybe I can resurrect it. If not, at least I know where it goes so I can attach another one.

Thanks for the photo.

Randall...

Your pic gives me another idea. A tab extending past the edge toward the block just forward of the original tab location and around that corner on that bulkhead ought to do the trick. It might be easier to get to.

Mine got hammered flush and painted over. I had to "unpaint" it with a small grinder and pry it open a little to make it useable. I see what could be the tab under a gob of paint in your picture right at the tip of the bulge. Have a look.

Does anybody have any idea about the purpose of the metal strap that is located along the edge in front of the throttle shaft bushing? There is one on each side but I have never found a credible use for it.

Isn't that the tab that I've pointed to?? You have the picture rotated 90 deg.

By George, I think you have nailed it! I'll have to see if I can coax it in there.

Yes it is. Not sure why the photo got rotated. It was right side up on my machine here, but it fell over when I posted it for some reason.
