TR 3 Side curtains

I know this has been talked about before on this forum...but I
can't seem to find the right link...so will ask again!
We are getting the cars ready for a long weekend ride...and I
probably should FINALLY get the side curtains mounted. When I
bought the car from the original owner...he had taken the curtains off...and could not find them. I got lucky and bought a rebuilt set...but these were never fit / bent to fit
my car. When I hold these up to the car with the top up...close...but not really right! SO...need help...how is the best way to bend these little babies into place! Do we screw the mounting plates in place first? I know out there in Forum land one of you has tips to help! Thanks, Gil

Ideally the sidescreen should fit inside the back of the staunchion snug against the tenon plate.

Adjustment in or out at the top of the sidescreen is via the legs. They are difficult to bend and go the opposite way to what's first thought.

Here's a way of positioning the mounting plates - soft top up.

Put masking tape over where the mounting plates screw to the door. Attach the plates to each sidescreen and hold it in place from outside the car while someone inside marks the new drill holes on the masking tape.

Early sidescreens need the lift-the-dot fasteners attached when the sidescreen is being positioned against the car.

Be careful not to drill new holes in too far.
