TR 3 Propellor Shaft Gaskets

Afternoon All:
When I disasembled my propellor shaft I found two rather thick cork gaskets, well, really pieces. I guess to keep the grease from oozing out all over man and beast. I find no reference to them in the Stanpart parts book nor do I find any reference in any of the catalogs. Look as though they might have been about 1/2 inch thick.
Does anyone have any idea about them, where I might get some, what size and etc?
Thanks in advance, Tinkerman

AFAIK they're unobtanium, but you can fab your own, just cut a circle of cork (a piece of old belt leather is better) with a diagonal slit to slip over the sliding shaft. It keeps the grease from oozing out but serves no mechanical function otherwise.

Size to tightly fit over the sliding part and within the tube nut.

There should also be a mating flat metal piece inside there, like a thin flat wide washer.

(edit)
Just looked and it's not in the parts manual either. If you have the shaft apart in two pieces MAKE SURE that you align the stamped arrows on each 1/2 when you re-mate the 1/2s.

The leather washer goes on first, then the big sheet metal flat washer, then the coupling nut, then assemble the spined sections, aligning the arrows (as I said above).

Thanks Peter I shall press on through the fog, thanks for the info.

Pretty easy really. Just get 'er clean then grease 'er up. Thick belt leather works great for this purpose.
