TR 3 intake manifold

I recently purchased a 1956 TR3 and I believe it has the wrong intake manifold for the head installed. In the picture I posted you can see the black marks on the top of the manifold where it meets the head this is were it leaks because the manifold is setting too low. Please give your opinion of my problem and if anyone has the correct manifold they would be willing to sell please let me know..

Thanks
Frank

Russ I don't have the engine number at this time but do you see how in your pix the top of the intake manifold follows the contore of the head, now look at the top of my intake manifold

Anyone have a spare high port intake manifold the would like to sell

Thanks
Frank

Frank,
Tr2's went into the 8K serial number range. The early TR3's had the same 2 motor (95 hp.)until mid summer that year (I don't know the #)when the 100 hp. high port head came out. You should also have the front drum brakes as they didn't come out until TS13046. You have a 'transition' car and that is unique. I wasn't aware that the 2 brake/clutch hydraulics were used. I'd be interested as to what type rear wheel hubs you have the square or round? Neat car.

Doesn't the early manifold accept the early 1 1/2 inch (2-stud) carbs? This manifold seems to be a hybrid because it takes the later carbs but goes on the early head. Anyway, I have a manifold I will sell for a reasonable price. Send me a personal message if you are interested.

I have the oposite problem. My head is the low posrt head but my intake manifold is the high port manifold. That is a bit easier to solve with some grinding of the bottom of the manifold. I would love to get the high port head though.

Looks like you also have the TR2 single resevoir brake/clutch unit. I have a 56 model but made late in the year (Dec)w/hi port intake, dual resevoir unit and front disc brakes. What serial # do you have on the vehicle/motor? Do you have disc front brakes? Interesting.

The vin # TS12020 can't making out the engine number all I can read TS__-115E This car has 4 bolt carbs..
Why does't my pix show up in the post

Thanks
Frank

DOn't have the production changes right here in front of me, but I'm betting you have a low port car, that someone swapped the head out for a later high port one. Everything else on your car is consistant with an early low port. The 2 bolt carbs were on very early TR2s .
looks like you either need a high port manifold, or a low port head (much easier, and better off with the manifold)
Try posting your picture as an "image" instead of an "attachment" that should make it show up in the post. Yours is there. you just have to click on the attachment link in the header to view it.
