I have an early TR-3A (TS23677) that I'm putting a different body on. It's a post 60000 body, and I understand that the fuel tanks are different. Can I install the early tank in the later body shell, or do I have to scrounge up a late tank? What are the differences in the tanks??

The difference is on the pre-60,000 cars, the outlet is in the center (of the bottom of the tank.) On the later cars, the outlet is on the left side of the bottom.

You probably could use either tank, as there is enough room in the back...and both tanks are 14gallons. According to Moss, you'll probably need to bend the outlet tube a little, although I'd think you could just use longer fuel lines!

I assume what you're saying is that I can use my earlier tank and fuel lines with the later body with only having to maybe pop a hole in the late body so the fuel line can mate up with the tank. Am I correct in my thinking??

Dont fall into the trap of "bending the lines"any restriction at the tank will cause you more fuel delivery problems than you can dream of!!!!!MOVE THE HOLE. A simple body plug in the old hole, drill a new one, your done. You may have to add something for the early tank to "sit on"I recall a change in the flooring under the tank. Good luck!!
