TR2/3/3A TR-3 Fuel Tank padding

I ordered felt for TR-3 fuel tank from TRF. Appears it is the strips that go on the two metal straps that go over the tank. The tank appears to sit on the trunk level pan and on the two raised platforms (about 1 inch wide left and right).
Is there any padding that is supposed to sit along the rear of the tank where it sits on the deck and also on the two
small (left and right) platforms that are on front half of the tank. Thanks for any help! Tom

I found 1/4" felt under both of the horizontal bottom surfaces of the tank, where it rests on the body. In tank mounting, there should be no metal-to-metal contact. Felt between the straps and the tank, and felt between the tank and the body. I found 1/8" felt (cheap) at the local surplus guy; doubled it up and cut it to fit. Bonus: it's white -- shows where the fuel is leaking...

I believe there should be felt on the platforms; perhaps you are supposed to cut a piece from the strips you got?

The lowest part of the tank should not touch, so no felt required there.

Thanks for the responses....been a while since I took it a part-daughter got ill and I toook two years off. I have pretty good notes but at the time it probably seemed simple. Tom

Tom, listed but not shown in the parts catalog.

Thanks for the posting I did not know about felt between the tank and the straps.

I took a old inner tube and made some wide strips for the tank to rest on...same strips were used between the tank
and the retaining bands. Has worked well for me. Gil
