TR2/3/3A TR-3 Defroster Hose on Driver's Side

Can someone please tell me if the driver's side defroster hose on a TR-3 is supposed to go through the large hole in the dash support bracket before it connects to the vent. This seems to be the only way to avoid an extremely sharp bend in the hose. Thank you.
