Right on Mickey! Why do we need computer circuits to control blend doors, and wireless accelerators. My father-in-laws car had to be taken to the dealer since the tire pressure on his DASH kept indicating a low LF tire. What happened to using a $3 pressure gauge that we all kept in the car. High tech for some of these systems is just $ to the dealers for repairs.

I love all the talk on news programs and such about "Oh, Toyota's doomed" and "They'll never regain market share..." and similar drivel. It may take some time, but I suspect they'll "recover" just fine. Look at Ford (I'm thinking exploding Pintos and Crown Victorias, Explorers that supposedly would roll over if you looked at them funny, and....); oddly, Ford is the current "shining example" that some of these newsreaders cite when they speak of Toyota's downfall!

I agree with the "witchhunt" assessment but also wonder what the acceptance of "full responsibility" really means. I think it's just a way to shorten the ordeal.
I've bought several new Toyotas and will not buy another. Nothing to do with the recalls, I am just disappointed in the thing and especially in the dealership's arrogant attitude to any complaints. Most recent event is being told (by the dealer) that my '05 Tacoma won't pass inspection again due to dodgy brakes and possibly heavy rust problems underneath. This is at 31K miles.
(Not really relevant, but I've seen "Toyota" used twice in the same day in news reports as a derogatory term as in "This is a <span style="font-style: italic">Toyota</span> of a bill.")
The above notwithstanding, I think they'll recover just fine but not until there's a lot more public apologies, recall programs, and other damage control efforts.
