Toyota 5 speed Shifter

The posts on the Toyota 5 speed swap say you'll get a center shift setup like late Healey's.
I was wondering if anyone has tryed to create a modified shifter that works with the 5 speed, & has a Side Shifter Geometry thru the trans tunnel, for an original look on early cars?

Interesting prospect... I suspect the issue would be the Toyota trans shifter output location is so far rearward that faking a forward left output location would require a really long unwieldy shift lever...even more so than the original Healey wand. I would think, if it were done, it would certainly take away from the beautifully precise shifting Toyota trans. I know I love the way my 5 spd conversion shifts!!

Cheers,
Steve

Well I do not think so. Because simplicity [cost] dictates that an existing transmission be used and most current useable transmissions in newer cars are of the center shift design.--Fwiw--Keoke
