"Toylet"

My old pal, Mike brought his Toyota-powered Midget (which he calls the "Toylet") to our recent Pocono event.
A nice, sano install with giant sidedraft Webers on the side of a Toyota 4A-G motor.

I posted pictures of it ~HERE~ (on the BCF Racing Forum).

That is a very nice install!! A royal flush fit, you might say!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I helped Mike with that swap. If you look there is a custom 90 thermostat outlet that we made to clear the weber intake manifold and we adapted a Toyota Starlet distributor to eliminate the computer. I had to machine and adapter and rework the MR2 drive gear to fit the Starlet distributor. I have pictures of the build along the way. It did require major tunnel surgery and a new brace to pick up the tranny and tie the sill back together.

The MR2 is mid-engine, how did you finagle the tranny? Did you just use a RWD Corolla tranny?

The Corolla GTS is RWD and uses the 4AG engine. The slave cylinder was tight though.

Yes, but the intake cam was off a tooth and the torque curve looked like a long stroke 1500 engine. It hasn't seen the dyno since then. He ran it at Mt Tremblant last month with us and it went well there too.

I wasn't able to catch a head on picture - how well did the hood fit? I've always dreamed of a stock looking spridget with some big iron under the hood. 120HP WOW !!!

Not familiar with the Toyota -- how built up is that engine to get 120HP ??

The hood fits fine. It is scheduled to be on the dyno Wednesday, I'll report back then.

Seems to becoming a more popular swap.
What's he getting? 120 hp at the flywheel?

Ran it on the dyno yesterday, 109 at the rear wheels, started with 103. If anyone knows of a limited slip diff for sale let me know.
