Tough paint needed

As part of my restoration of Little Mo I stripped the paint from the top bows and primed and painted them. After just installing and removing them a few times I'm already seeing chipped spots showing up. Clearly the choice of rattle cans that I made was not a good one. Not having access to a proper spray gun, I wonder if there is a paint that will hold up to the use that the original paint provided. I'd like to keep them in the original gray. Do I just have to live with my current paint job or is there a realistic way to get a tough coating?
 
Tractor Supply black gloss tractor paint. Use the optional hardner and brush on. Good stuff.

I'm not sure if you have a TS locally, but if not, order from their website.
 
Enamel is a soft paint and takes a long time to finally cure and toughen. Is there a local powder coat shop? You might have to get a special mix. The another option is a custom can of 2k gray made by a local paint supplier. Lastly, I have been happy with the strength and shine of Interlux polyurethane paints. The stock colors might work and they are available at West Marine Stores in pints. Summer is here, touch them up and let them cure :driving: and go drive, it doesn't rain in the summer in Ohio does it? :devilgrin:

That sounds good. There is a TSC about ten minutes away.
 
after you paint put a heat light on it for a day, the stand up shop lamps with the Halog. bulbs work good
