Toshiba computer

I've owned HP computers since I got my second one, first was a Commodore. I needed a new lap top right away, went to Best Buy and picked up this Toshiba computer at the recommendation of a sales person. The internals work as well as any others, but the case is a piece of crap! The key board sounds like it's bouncing on top of a piece of cardboard when typing, as being loose! It's not loose! It's the cheapest piece of junk I've ever owned, bar none! I think I'm going to put this thing in the shop to keep restoration files on and go pick up a Dell or HP, probably a HP. I'm telling this so everyone knows the new Toshbas are at the bottom of the list. Funny as my wife has a Dell and an older Toshiba mini. Her Toshiba mini is built like a rock! Like most other things, the've turned to junk. JMHO. PJ

I'll NEVER buy another Dell!!! Thats all I can say without getting kicked out of here.:mad-new:

Yeah, I agree, I'll more than likely pick up another HP. Had to get Dell on the phone once then on line to take over the wifes computer to resolve a problem. Came new with a bad driver in it! Took Dell 20 minutes to fix it on line. It came with Vista in it and as soon as W-7 came out, I installed it and have never had a problem with it since. I like W-7, can't say that about W-8 that's in this machine. Slowly figuring out how to shut down some of the garbage in W-8 and making it run like 7. Even have the W-7 menu back. PJ

Dell used to be awesome back in the day. I had a 90 megahertz computer where the monitor crapped out on me. Called tech support and they asked me to try a few things which had no effect. Without me asking they wanted to know where to send me the new monitor, priority overnight. No small chunk of change for a 17" CRT. At some point, Michael Dell left the company and it went downhill. Michael is back now and I heard he is going to take the company off the stock market and make it a private company again. It will be interesting to see if he can bring his company back to the top.

I'll never buy another HP. Had one that was less than 2 years old and fried the motherboard. Talked to my favorite IT guy, and he say they are notorious for overheating issues. Recommended Acer or Toshiba. Got the Toshiba, and although the keyboard does feel a little chintzy, this thing rocks.

My HP desk top is the best computer I've ever owned. It has two 300 gig hard drives, tons of memory! Set up for gaming, it's very, very fast. With it's 22 inch screen, it's a joy to use. I just like a lap top for every day use. Even though this Toshiba runs well, I hate this crappy flimsy key board! It bugs me to type on it. Reason it's getting replaced! PJ

I bought an ASUS when I moved here as my desktop was in storage and it was about shot.
Really like it ...cept the fact that the mouse pad is so sensipoo that if the hairs on my thumb just barely brush it, it knocks my typing all over the place

Don-
You should be able to go into the settings and adjust the sensitivity on the mouse pad.

Never had a laptop so still trying to figure where that is.
Thru the Control Panel ?

Look for "mouse" in the control panel

Don I am not sure which ASUS laptop you have but on mine (UX31A) there is the same issue of oversensitive touchpads. Unfortunately, there is no sensitivity setting that I could find in the control panel or the "Smart Gesture" app which you will find in the system tray (those tiny icons at the far end of the windows start row) There should be one which looks like a tiny touch pad.

One option is to set it to automatically disable the touchpad when you plug in a regular mouse.

Presently I have it connected to a wireless keyboard and mouse .
Also a external monitor.
I plan on hoking it all up to a docking station hopefully with the capability of 2 monitors.

I had the same experience with Dell and a monitor. They replaced it no charge.

Want a challenge try typing on a kindle ereader microscopic fonts and a pretend on screen key board and to top it off I have these huge fingers . takes while but with patience manageable :single_eye:
