Topaz?

This may sound dumb, but, my TR7 was painted black by a DPO and the original colour is Topaz (code EAA). I've looked around the net, and havn't found a single pic of that colour TR7. I know it was a short lived colour, but I'm curious what it looks like on the whole car. I've seen bits and pieces of it around hte engine bay and under the black vents behind the doors, but I'm not sold on that colour yet.

Also, the interior is beige, but the centre console (shift boot, handbrake boot and console lid) are all black. Is that right? Are the interiors mix and match like that?

I havn't seen reference to that color on the TR7 before. You may wana post a question about it on the forum at the world wide TR8-TR8 owners club. You don't have to join to use the forum.

Yeah, thats very common for all those items to be black, even if the rest of the vynal is a different color.

Mark - I first found the colour here. https://www.triumphtr7.com/documents/tr7info/paintcodes.htm

Boxo and steve - thanks

Steve99 - There's a grey dash?

Yeah, Ive seen some pictures hear and there, but Ive never actually seen one. They look neat compared to the black ones.

Go with the topaz if for no other reason than 50% of TR7s were painted black.

Huh? I thought the only ones painted black were the Spiders. The triumphtr7.com paint codes page doesn't even list a code for black.

steve99 - Are you talking about the dash?

Walter - My real motivation to paint it topaz is since it was only done for a year. But orange attracts police attention.

Obi - Black seems to be a popular colour for resprays. But to my knowledge only the spiders were black from the factory.

Less than 1500 of all TR7s were painted black by the factory.

Obi,

Black might have only been offered on the spiders, but of the 7 TR7s I've personally seen 3 have been black one yellow and three orange.

P.S. The orange is almost as ugly as the brown on my spit.

Walt - It depends on the orange. Topaz is bright orange. I know there is a super funky yellow/orange out there that I saw on a Spit 1500. THAT was ugly.

The best orange I have seen is a rare color BL used on some cars in the early '70s called Bracken. I have seen a couple of MGBs in it as the origonal color. I'm thinking of painting my TR7 in it.
