Topaz Orange 6? Any one seen one?

Awhile back saw a low milage six in Topaz orange. Thought that was a good color on a 911 but not right for a car that I always thought of as red, green or white. After seeing many pics of Brosky's Mimosa, and how nice that bright color sets of the engine compartment, chrome, interior etc. the Topaz Orange is starting to grow on me.

Considering, the "restored" beauty I acquired is "Rootbeer", I think a Suzuki two wheel color, it definitely needs a new color skin.

The Bugeye under resto is going to be Old English White and I think the TR2, soon to be mine, will end up red or black, maybe some out of the box color thinking for the 6 would be fun.

Alternatively, fixing the timing cover seal leak, rebuilding the carbs and driving might be more sensible......but then having 3 LBC's clearly means that is not how I think.

Anyone have any serious reservations about a Topaz Orange 6? :nonod:

I have serious reservations on you having 3 LBC's and think it only fair you give the 3 to me

You already have two, that would give you five with my three, you would then, having too many, have to give yours to someone else....where would it end?

Orange ain't bad, especially with a good wax job. Sienna Brown is a hard color to love.

I got a 75 TR6 in Topaz if your looking for pics. I'd post some but I can't figure out how to reduce the size right now.

Go for it, please! IMHO - too many TRs of all eras in red, green, and white out there!

That is why, when Old Gold is up for a repaint, it is going to be Wedgewood blue, with white racing stripes.

Back in 1983 I helped found the Triumph Club of the Carolinas, in Charlotte. I still have membership card No. 4. One of our members owned a 76 TR6 with about 6000 original miles on the clock. He paid $10K for it in 1984, which we all thought was way too much. He was a rather eccentric guy with more money than brains.

Well, and let me get to the point, the car was Topaz. We called it the pumpkin. Not our favorite color, but the car was near perfect! Of course BL had offered colors which I think were more hideous. There was a bright green color (I don't remember the name), but another member, a HS teacher, called it the color of money, because it tended to be a black hole for money.

The prettiest TR6 I have ever seen, and it was painted a non-standard color, was at a past VTR event. It was a pearl gray with a smoke grey interior and carmine piping. I cant find the photo (pre-digital) but if I do I will scan it and post it here.

My '75 is Topaz. The paint is original. (21.5K miles). It was never my favorite back when the cars were still in production. After decades of watching Hemmings and my bank account. I never did find a '71 BRG over tan to replace my original TR6. I settled on the Topaz because of the condition, mileage and the price. After a few months I started to like the color. It's definetly a '70's color. Very similar to the orange you see on new Mustangs. Great contrast with the black interior and top.
Unfortunately most of my digital pictures (or my monitor) do not accurately display the color. It is a little more orange than the picture. Pumpkin is the best description.

I've seen someone in my area with a nice Topaz orange 6 and I thought it looked really good. Definitely not your average color, but I thought it looked very sporty.

If you ever get to The Roadster Factory, Charles has a Topaz TR6 in a back building. I'm sure they would be happy to show it to you.
It used to be a very straight, low mile car. I believe it still has low miles...but it's not so straight.
I don't mind the bright green (java), my '72 was saffron which I could not get my self to like. It reminded me too much of the utility side of a baby's diaper.

Topaz is another one of those colors that looks really nice in the shade.

Hmmmm.......now that I have seen several pics don't quite know what to make of it.....some good, some not so.

The pic from the Cape Cod Club.....owner Dennis Sokol, same guy with the wine venture from up there?

Fix carbs & oil leak. Leave repaint until next winter when engine comes out. Need to find something different just don't know what. Maybe the RootBeer current color will grow on me. Looks really good upclose but from a distance looks kinda brown. :frown:

If I ever get another one, it will be BLACK on Black.

With the right wheels, either wires or Panasports and no baby buggy bumperettes, that is one mean looking TR6.

Especially with a blacked out mesh grille.
