I have a new top that is hard to put up. What is the best procedure to raise the top and snap all snaps with a new tight top? Ther has to be better way and pulling and stretching.

Hi Salt - you're talking about new soft top on a TR6, right?

You say it's a new top. So are you asking about "freeing up" the moving joints that are usually pretty tight when new? WD-40 usually does a great job, as well as just "exercising" the joints.

And following the instructions in the owner's manual is the best way to raise the top. I've seen some badly damaged by just yanking and pulling them up.

PS - if the frame operates smoothly, but the top seems too "small" and tight ... put the car in a heated garage for a few hours. That'll loosen up the top material so it goes into place more easily. Also maybe use a small hand-held hair drier.

I find that snappin the side snaps on before I pull the top the final few inches onto the latches makes it a little bit easier.

Thanks for the tips. The top only needs stretching... I feel. It is new and will loosen up with time.
This is my first TR6 but not my last.... love the car and building another.
