Have any of you guys put in the bearing kits into you top trunnions to replace the thrust washers?

What is the feed back - they say that it vastly improves the effort required to turn the steering wheel, I can see that it should, is it true.

I have them and not convinced there is that much of a difference although I only have driving in a BN2 to compare with. Slightly easier to turn when parking perhaps but nothing to write home about. Might be more noticeable if you have wide tyres.

Biggest change I noticed is when working on a Mk2 steering system with the needle-roller peg as opposed to the staked in one on the earlier cars. That definitely makes a difference in the steering effort. Andy.

I have the bearing kit with 185/70 tires and agree the difference is not really noticeable.

"Vastly" way overstates the difference. If the thrust washers were dry there would be more friction so that would mean more of a difference.

They made a difference for me on my vintage racer.

Thanks guys

I appreciate your comments, need to adjust the existing system so thought that I would update at the same time. May just leave it for now and add in a shim or two.

I've installed two (2) sets, but have never road tested any; both were supplied with loose stub axles/kingpins

Randy,
You are welcome to come up to Philadelphia any time you get tired of Florida to road test on of the sets.;):driving:

P.S. I was surprised at how nice the steering was, but then I have nothing else to compare it to not having driven an original.
