is running now. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings........but this has to be one of the most juvenile shows to be found on TV. So far, IMHO, It is running a close 2nd to "Jackass".

What do the rest of you think?

Not impressed at all. :nonod: There isn't anything about enthusiasm, love or respect for cars. It's just a bunch of non-car dumbasses and crap........................

So, I guess I'm pretty noncommital on the show..

We should have not watch the real Top Gear before see this one.

Not watching the original will not improve this version.

Even if you never heard of top gear before after 10 minutes of watching this horrid show you would search out something better like the county information tv channel or old films off the bbc showing different cheeses.

Please let this show die a quick death.

I think there's a LOT of juvenile shows to be found on TV. And they're all being watched by adults during prime time.

<sigh>

sounds like I'm lucky I work third shift and missed it...

guess I'll stick to the original on youtube

Similar thoughts. Missed it and likely will continue to do so.

I did seat and watch the whole show. I will not be looking just to watch the next show unless the previews show something I want to see.

:iagree: with all the above. It was a total waste of an hour.

You mean to tell us that you missed the chance to waste another hour on the rerun?

I've met Tanner Faust, the driver of the Viper. He is an experienced rallye driver. Pretty nice guy, and talented to boot. Don't have a clue who the others were.

IMO, it's unfair to compare this program to the UK version immediately. It's going to develop its own personna...it will just take a few episodes.

I don't like the fact the promo showed them sitting on the car. One of 'em was even on the roof! Looked like it was 'shopped but still.

I agree and I am a huge fan of the original, but even they took a while to get the formula right. This wasn't as horrendous as transplant shows normally are when they try to make them "wacky", "zany" and obvious for US audiences. I was hoping that they would build on the mystique of The Stig, but maybe that will come. At least it's not just a commercial for the car companies. Hopefully they will say when they don't like a car, otherwise it will be a waste of time.

The studio stuff was flat compared to the original, but I will stick with it for a while.

I agree with your info about Tanner but he's just too Hollywood for my taste. He started his claim to fame in the US by way of drifting competition if you can call it that. Rutledge Wood has been a regular on the NASCAR broadcasts and mostly seemed like a clown to me but somehow endured. Adam Ferraro looks familiar from one of the cop or CSI shows. I have the first episode TIVO'd but it's not important enough to watch yet.

only thing real about the show are the cars, even the dislike the drivers have for each other is contrived, well o.k. the one show i cought had one ah dem "supper cars" drops its guts with a laud clunk onna track and leak all sorts ah stuff, ill watch the show again when they do a real body integrity test and drive straight on flat out at one another, we all know that aint gunna happen.

I have not seen the show yet. But I understand our local Matador Dennis Borba was on the show. Yes, we have bullfights in Ca. Bloodless for the bull but not always for the Bullfighters.

I finally watched it today. Both my wife and I agree that it lacks the passion and the personality of the UK version. Perhaps that's something that will come with time. Also, did anyone else notice the laugh track?

It's too forced.

That was my main problem with it, and something I hope they'll work out. Too forced, trying too hard to be like the British version. If they can find their own way to do a car show, it'll be fun. If they just try and be a copy, it'll never really be that good.

Sounds like I was fortunate to have
missed it.
Is the UK version something thats still around?
