Top frame webbing N/A, what do I do? Is it needed?

My webbing is shot and nobody carries it. Do I need it? What did you do? ('79)
 
Mine was shot, I just used an old seat belt & cut to length. Not sure of the purpose I guess it's to keep the top bows spaced properly as it's pulled into place ? must be there for some reason I guess...
 
Another alternative is to go to an upholstery shop, I'm pretty sure you would find some webbing material at one of them!!
 
Just go to your local upholstery shop...they have it in rolls (at least mine does).
