Getting closer! The top frame on my BJ8 should be a medium grey. Does anyone have a suggestion for an appropriate rattle can color? Searching the archives revealed Roger's BJ8 top install. Stunning. When mine's done, I just hope if we ever meet, Roger doesn't point and giggle at the same time.

Hi Cutlass,
Wow, thank you for the compliment. I would never intentionally point out flaws in someone's car. Trust me, mine has many.

The Concours Registry says:
On all models, from the beginning to end of production, soft-top bows were painted a medium grey.

You are absolutely correct in your wording, medium grey.
My suggestion for a rattle can color?.... medium grey. Ok, maybe it's not that easy. Most hardware stores will let you bring a couple cans, or at least the caps out to your car for a color match. Sorry, but I can not offer a brand or specific shade of color. I brought my frame to the powder coaters and had them bead blast then power coat it in the closest grey they had to what was on prior to the bead blast.

Do you have a copy of the Concours Registry?
If you have any other questions about the top, I'd be happy to look it up for you.

I'll attach a photo of a tension wire the upholstery shop added to help keep the two sides of the top, over the side windows from rising as time goes on. I'm all about upgrades, if they are hidden.

Cheers,
Roger

Thanks again. Rustoleum makes a "Light Machine Gray" which seems about right. And yes, I do have the Concours Guide, which I'll look at now. Powder coated, huh? Very nice.

I went through several samples until I found a hue that came the closest to the color that was under the latches on my BN6 top bows.

I settled on Smoke Gray HD2886, called America's Finest by Rust-Oleum. This is a dead on match for my top bows.
