Top Boot

Looking for a new top boot to go with my new top. I would like the boot to be biscuit colored to match the top and interior. Anyone know of a place to purchase this?

Has anyone ever made one of these? I was thinking of using the old one as a pattern and asking my wife to sew it. She reluctantly said maybe.

That's most likely your best bet as far as expense, otherwise have you looked at Moss, VB or AH Spares?

LBCarco.com lists one in Sand color, but it is most likely special order (and not cheap). I think a local upholster could do one for similar money and get a better match.

I used a local upholsterer to make a top boot to match my interior. He had multiple gray/silver vinyls so we easily found one that matched my interior (from MGOC in the UK). We used my old black top boot for a pattern. Cost about $200 a few years ago.

If you have an old one to use as a pattern, AND don't want to make it yourself, head down to the docks. The guys who do sail boats can do about anything with waterproof canvas and have the sources for all the material types and colors that exist.

There is a couple in our car club who have posted here about making seat covers, maybe they would like to take on this project.
I have emailed them this thread.

A good guy I know runs Sailors Tailor in Bellbrook, OH. NFI. He's made covers for just about anything and everything from all sorts of materials. I was planning on having him tailor my tonneau cover to fit the Miata Headrests and fit my rollbar. I've got an old top to use as period correct donor material to use for parts and pieces that need to be added to the tonneau.
