Top 50 forgotten cars

Well, I remember 17 of them....almost bought a Gilbern GT once but somebody sneaked in right under me as I was on way to pick up!

Of those I didn't remember, I do like the DeTomaso Longchamp & the Piper GTT.

They claim only 400 Elva Couriers were built? Wow.

And d Glibern!! YAY!!!

Thanks for posting that!

The Romanian Dacia - now there's one you don't see much around Connecticut! Have to admit, I can understand why so many are forgotten; they were either not much to look at or "not much to drive".

T.

They went slaggin' the Alfettas!! How pompous. The Alfetta sedans were great cars.

SIGH ..... I`v lived a sheltered life! Either that or spent wayyyy too much time during my teen years looking at girls! Or daydreaming about what I could do with 20`s 30`s and 40`s American iron, given the money and time. NOPE .... I didn`t recognize a single one of them in the pics.

I don't think that cars that "never got off the drawing board" can be considered among the top 50 cars that were "forgotten".

Never heard of about 20 of them, including the Paramont. Looks a little Jowett-like to me.

Dacia?

Yeah, I'm about the same, John. Tho there were cars there I remember. Masers in particular. And again, Gilberns were lovely cars.

I recognised most of the cars that were actually produced. Agree with John that the Paramount was very much like the Jowett Jupiter. The Gilbern was indeed a good car, shame that it never made it.

I saw a Gordon Keeble on a BL dealer's forecourt in the early eighties. They were asking what seemed an ungodly sum then, but in retrospect probably wasn't that bad. I remember being struck by how good-looking that car was.

I have not forgotten about ROCHDALE OLYMPICS
(nor most of the other 49 cars on the list)

Got 'em all except the Lotus concept. That list was biased heavily towards cars sold in the UK and Europe, though. I mean, the Asia Rocsta was only ever sold in Asia and the UK-the only reason I remembered it was because it was listed as the worst 4x4 in the lists at the back of CAR magazine, and the name stuck.
Because it's daft.

I too like the Olympic. British journalist Malcolm McKay is a long time Olympic owner (among quite an eclectic collection of cars-the Bond Equipe comes to mind). I followed his travails with this little mini-GT in Classic Cars magazine for years. Like Turners, I always thought they'd make excellent autocross and track day cars.

Does anyone remember the 3 Wheeled Avanti? I saw one when I was about ten(1960) and it had 2 wheels in the front & 1 in the rear in the middle of the car?

I must have led a sheltered life - I'd only heard of a handful of those cars! Some neat stuff there, however.!

Not everybody forgot the Facel Vega.

A whole Facel club showed up at Cars & Coffee this morning!
