Tools: What do you use and why?

We have a hard time getting both the Snap on and Mac guys to come by. All of us at where I work execpt on have all the tools we need. I they would come by at least once a month. The Snap on guy will come when called the MAC don't care unless you owe him. I still like to by what I don't need.

I vaguely recall seeing an ad a few years back for a "toothless" "infinite resolution" ratchet that used a coiled spring as the ratchet mechanism. Whatever happened to those ?

Those toothless ratchets and nutdrivers are made by "Omega" corp. We use lots of them on the 737 assembly line at Boeing and they work great.
They don't use a coiled spring but a "one-way" clutch-bearing. They don't hold too much torque (around 35"lbs max)but are great in tight areas.

Not the same as I was thinking of, then. I remember the diagram showing a long, square-section spring wrapped around a drum. Probably one of those new inventions that turned out to not be as good as what it was supposed to replace.
