What's the best way to put a value on a lifetime set of professional tools, tool boxes, etc? My brother was a professional mechanic for 25+ years. His family will want to sell his equipment. Is there a market for this sort of thing? What's the best way to try to sell - piece by piece, in sets, or as a whole? Ebay, Craigslist, or......? Please don't ask what's for sale, nothing is for sale yet and I honestly don't know. I am just trying to get things in place during this extremely unfortunate time. Thank you for your support and understanding. Peter
 
Tool sales have to be among the most active categories on both Ebay and Craigslist - particularly "truck sold" tools (Snap-On, Matco, Mac, Cornwell). I certainly would sell them in the quantities and groups as they were purchased when new (rather than all combined). I think it will be made clear if you start searching Ebay with words such as: Ingersol Rand impact gun, Matco ratchets, Snap on screwdrivers, wrench sets, hammers, tap & die sets, pry bars etc. The market price is quite high for well cared for tools - primarily because of the very high prices for new professional tools.
Haven't gone your route in some years but certainly remember the pain felt. Sorry.
