military surplus stores sometimes have nice canvas bags for tool storage and you may even get lucky and find a canvas tool roll too {If you can stand O.D. green}
Myself prefer Craftsman hand tools although I do have some proto, mac, plumb {real old proto}, Snap on, crecent {yea they make wrenches and socket sets too}, and even some china and tiwan {I Bought just so I could bend or modify them for one time use special purposes}, as for electric hand tools I try to stick with Mikita or Dewalt. As for drill presses and the like Well you know what from you know where is about all the options we have without spending FORTUNE.
H.F. tools I try to limit my purchases from them to the low maintenance stuff, Snd Blasters, parts wahser and consumables like sanding and grinding disks, sandpaper, ETC.
