Wedge Took the TR8 Out Tonight

Got the license plate and insurance yesterday, and thought we'd take a spin tonight - out to eat and once around the town. Boy is this thing fun! All LBC's should have V8's!

One question for the wedgeheads, though. The instrument lights are VERY dim. Any remedies?

Remove Rheostat switch beside lighter, and direct wire. Still not close to what you need, but I like it when driving in the dark.... I can't fixate on the Temp. gauge.

Thanks, Paul! Will try that. (Never understood why there's a dimmer anyway - I've never used it.)

In reality, the rheostat is 2 position...dim and dimmer... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

The rheostat is the cause of many fires inthe TR6. Get rid of it and put something else in that hole. I moved the ign. switch to that position.

I'm jealous!!! Today I removed the two side bolts retaining the gear selector "remote" on my TR8. Like the two top bolts, the side ones were also missing the bushings.

I ordered some via ebay, and hopefully I'll get them some time this week. Should be a snap to put them back in, and hopefully the shift action will be much improved (how can it not be improved from missing the parts necessary to keep the shifter secured!?!?!)

Sammy.. You didn't get them from the guy who charges $12.00 shipping, did you?
That package may cost him $2.00 to send. I got my bushings this summer, from my local Auto Pro store. I showed him a borrowed example of exactly what I needed, and I came home with eight for a buck and a half. I drove another three months with them in and felt no wear at all.
The differance is amazing though.

Have fun

Paul
