It was 40s but the wife and I took a nice cruise through the mountains with the top up and plenty of warm heat from the heater in the midget. In 5th gear with the rpms real low its pretty quiet in the cockpit and we listened to the stereo and took some twisties on the blue ridge parkway. No worries with it running hot today

Most all are jealous of you. Got up to about 25 today. The BE is tucked in the garage with plans for when it is warmer. Enjoy!!!!

Get that sprite out on the road. 25 degrees is not bad with the top up and the heater going. The blower should make yours warm up in a hurry

32 today in Spring Hill.

It's been a cold winter. A snowy owl, the first one seen in TN in over 20 years, has taken up residence about a mile away and has become a local celebrity.

Spring can't come soon enough.

Snowing, raining, and cold here today. I drove (?) the snowblower today, that's the best I could do. Nice to hear you got the Midget out today, Kim. Fantastic.

Got the red thing out yesterday. No rain for the past week so the roads dried out, finally. Took a spin up the Columbia River to Portland on the Oregon side, across the St. John's Bridge and back up I-5 to home, a little over 100 miles. Traffic was f*&^ed up coming out of Portland. Some guy had crashed a pickup pulling a trailer on the bridge making it one lane instead of three. Stop and Go traffic and it started snowing to boot. Made it home and know why I usually go down the river to the coast! Light snow today. That was a short driving season!

Friday here in Texas was about 75 degrees for a nice drive but Saturday was in the high 30's. Texas is funny that way, warm one day and cold the next, at least in the winter. I'm not sure how the B.E. is going to run in the summer heat.

I envy you guy's!!! Spridget's have great heaters and I would love to go for a drive but have a personal rule. My classics don't go out after the first salting of the roads till spring rains have washed it off!
When I was a kid just sand was good enough and there were plenty great old cars to be had but I think big insurance companys won!!!

5 degrees right now, too cold to even tinker in the garage, I'm not sure I can make it another 15 years to retirement so I can leave this forsaken wasteland.
I hate winter. We've got about 90 inches of snow and are only half down with winter.

:iagree: :wall: :cryin:

While I hadn't forgotten about road salt I didn't know they used it as far east as South Dakota. When I lived in NY I never saw a car older than 5 years old except in the summer time. Out here NO SALT. EVER. It is not uncommon to see daily drivers 30 years old or more still on the road... My rule is that the red thing doesn't come out if the roads are WET. That's usually about 3 days after it stops raining.. .... a day here ... a day there.... until summer...

Salt seems to be the new car finish of choice. Everthing and every car is coated in it. I was once told that rust doesn't do much when it's cold, that's my consolation anyway. Midget got out Dec. 30 or so and no chance of seeing the road anytime soon, by the time the weather breaks, it'll be in so many pieces I may never get her on the road again. I hate winter. I really need to invest in a heated garage, for my sanity if nothing else!!!

Sorry to do this to you guys but we've got the opposite problem down here. I've been thrilled that it's been cool enough to get out and work on the car lately. The weather finally broke in late December and it's been in the 70's most days since. It got down to 48 one night last week and I think that set a record. I know the heat and humidity will make it too hot to take a ride in the Sprite again all too soon.

I'm sure I speak for all us northeners when I say that not only do you have our full and complete sympathy but out of the goodness of your hearts and pure altruism we will be happy to trade places with you. :nopity: :jester:

Here in UK, it's just a few degrees above freezing, wet, roads are salty & really horrid. You have to clean your screen every 1/4 mile.
YUK I'll wait till summer before I get mine out.
Might have it back together by then.

They use some slimey nasty stuff on the roads up here, but at least it isn't salt.
I really need to wash my car.

Does anyone know if the stuff they use here in western Washington state on I-90 is particularly corrosive?

Don't know about Washington but beat juice is use a bit in parts of Michigan, but it's all salt by me, lots and lots of salt.

Hey leisure, how about me showing up with my 72 Winnebago and a long extention cord!!! Course I'll tow my midget.
