Talked to their daughter today, and am waiting to hear back from her. Jerri underwent surgery this morning for broken sternum and collapsed lung. As soon as I have more information, I'll pass it along.

In the meantime, the best thing for them right now is thoughts and prayers.

Doc changed his avatar for Tony

I noticed doc's changed avatar as well as steve's "missing man formation".... both very fitting for our loss.

Basil, my heart goes out not only to Jerri and the kids, but to all of you here as well. I don't spend much time at BCF, but I know Tony's presence here is huge.

I was lucky enough to talk with him a few times on the phone, and he was just a great guy. This is a terrible loss.

Very very sad and like many of you, absolutely stunned at the news.

RIP Colonel and God speed. You will be missed but your influence will last many more lifetimes.

Sad news indeed! My condolences to his family! Although I did not know Tony well, the few times I did chat with him was a pleasure. He will be missed by me as well.

Guys, Jerii does not need funds. She has that kind of help. Lots of it.

Ricky called today from Tonys body and paint place to make sure I knew, what a guy. Tony and Jerii were on their way to his place for breakfast which was a regular occurance.

He said Jerii has some pins in her foot but is doing well, daughter is with her and friends are as well.

No arrangements have been made as yet and Rick is to let me know what and when.

Kid driveing other pick up came across the line, Tony went to the sholder to get out of the way, it was soft and threw his truck back onto the road and they hit head on. His truck wound up in the ditch, you have seen pics of the black one.

They first thought Jerii had a broken back but seems her foot is the major problem.

More as I get it but don't hold your breath.

Thank you, Jack. And thank Ricky for passing the info.

Just got a bit more information...

Jerri is in Intensive Care following some initial surgeries on her leg(s). She will remain in IC until she is strong enough to undergo a spinal surgery.
No speculation yet on Tony's funeral.

I'll report back when I know more.

All I can add is wow!! I mean WOW!! I always hoped to meet Tony. He was one of what I consider the "old timers" on this forum. What I mean by that is that he was a fully developed human, with life experience and the wisdom that accumulates with years of gaining that experience. I fix these cars professionally, so I rarely am looking for help. Yet, due to the old timer factor I read every post of Tonys that I came across. I felt I had a kindred spirit in Tony (as well as some others that belong here). My deepest condolences to his family, and I expect that he would be delighted to know just how big that family really was. Colonel, I am standing up and saluting. You will be missed by an awful lot of people.

Thanks Ric.

Hello to all. I am Tony's son-in-law (Jeff), married to Tony's daughter Shannon. My wife has been tremendously moved by the posts remembering Tony and expressing regret for his passing. She wants you to know how much her Dad would have loved to read what's been said about him. She will share all of this with her mother as she is able to do so.

Jerri remains in critical but stable condition in the ICU at Huntsville Hospital. Surgery this morning to repair damage to her left leg went very well. The orthopedist inserted pins in her lower tibia and was very pleased with the result. The next issue is an L-1 compression fracture that will require surgical fusion in the next few days. As has been reported, she also has broken ribs, collapsed lung, and sternum trauma. She is doing as well as could be expected, is alert and talking, in considerable pain but very lucky just to be alive.

My wife is making every effort to honor her mother's wishes with respect to services for Tony. Due to her mother's condition, no arrangements have been made as yet. Shannon hopes to complete the obituary notice tomorrow for publication on Thursday.

Again, thank you for your most gracious remembrances of Tony. Your words and prayers are lifting our family up in this devastating time. I will post updates from Jerri and Shannon from time to time. God bless.

Jeff, thank you very much for posting that update here. Please pass on to Jeri and Shannon that there are hundreds of people in this online British car community who are keeping them and the entire Barnhill family in their prayers. Tony touched a huge number of lives across the world - a small sampling of which you see in this thread. We are all better for having known him!

If possible, please do keep us updated,

On another forum that Tony frequented someone posted this.

The big guy upstairs probably had a electrical problem on his MG and called for help.

Reading that made me smile, the only smile I have had since hearing the news. He is one member here that I will miss.

Yep, and don't you know that Tony's taken the lead, told everyone else to get out of his way, and he'll fix it his way!
