I currently have a 77 B with no tonneau cover or top cover. I have many LBC's all of which had the sockets for the cover support. Needless to say, with a "permanent" frame, I can't use the sockets I purchased for my hardtop. Any thoughts? Aside from looking for an early top/frame, I think I am stuck.

ISTR the earliest fold-down frame & top (had a '66 with that) worked with the side brackets and hard top. The tonneau was no problem either.

...unless I misunderstand the question.

Since there are no sockets attached while the top is, I assume that my only option is to remove top, frame and all to allow the sockets to be attacked in order to have a top cover supported...?

The top frame #33 in this Moss illustration is what I was referencing. It attaches inside the chrome brackets with some long Phillips screws and is more-or-less a "permanent" fold down frame.
