Tonneau cover

I recently received a new tonneau cover(compliments of my wife) for our 61 BT7. I've got it figured out except for the support bar. The bar is too short and its' circumference is too big to fit into the holes where the top goes. Placing it in the holes would also put it too far forward. A previous owner replaced the carpet and upholstery and I suspect may have carpeted over where the bar should go. Could somebody help me out here?
By the way, the cover, bar,etc came from Victoria British.
Any help will be appreciated.

Perry if you are trying to put the bar in the holes at the door they are the wrong ones . you will find them 5 inches toward the back of the car.
