TR6 Tonneau cover strap lift-the-dot stud location

I'm trying to figure out the correct location for the lift-the-dot stud for the strap that drops down between the seats. I was thinking it was on the tunnel, but TRF's spare parts catalog mentions passenger seat bottom. Does anybody's car still have the stud on the seat so I can see where it goes?

Keith my 1970 TR6 has a stud on the passenger seat lower seat frame so I can confirm it for at least the earlier seats. Unfortunately I'm away from the car for the next month so can't grab a picture for you.

Randy does it go thru the vinyl at the back of the seat just in front of the half round bottom section of the backrest? I found a hole in the frame at that location.

IMG_1095.jpgits the shiny bit in the picture, I think its fastened to the metal seat frame. FWIW, I cut my strap off my tonneau, PITA.

Graham, thanks for taking the lead on that one, I have hated that dangling strap since I got the tonneau 7 years ago or so. Never use it, think it is time for it to go.

Graham thank you for the picture, that's where I was thinking it went after finding the hole in the seat frame. I myself would nut cut the strap off. I used to use it all the time when I had the right side of the car zipped up. It keeps it nice and tight when driving.

Grahams pic nailed it. Not to steal the thread too muc but I'm curious - has anyone used the strap and has it helped? On my TR3A and TR4 I don't recall a lot of vibration but I've never used the strap to compare.

I drive my TR6 constantly with the tonneau on and the right side covered up. No strap on mine but honestly, it has never been a problem at all without it.

I drive mine a lot with the tonneau on and passenger side covered up, never a problem. Don't recall if I have driven that way on the highway. Assume it would be more of an issue at speed.

I kind of have a thing about everything on my cars working as designed, but never extended as far as the tonneau strap.
