Does anyone have any words of wisdom regarding this lising on Ebay? I am looking for a cover for my 66 BJ8. Thanks

AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 TONNEAU COVER BLACK OR BLUE UK MADE Item number: 4651243107

FWIW - why not call Heritage, or one of the other reputable distributors of these and work with them on a price. You'll get a quality product and someone who will back up what you purchase. Just my $.02.

Hi sjgcpa, what Brit Boy advertises is just what he has. However, its your call.---Keoke

Austin Healey tonneau cover correct for all BJ-7 and BJ-8 cars.

And as I just told him, IMPOSSIBLE!!! TWO DIFFERENT ITEMS!!

BJ-7 ones (just like "clip" rear window tops [hoods]) have been N/A for YEARS!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

ed kaler,i also own a bj7, i see the impossible in the add that says "fits 1006 and bj7s" the dead give away is the fact that if the top is flat with no stitching in the rear section (the part that should bent over and around the top/hood) its not going to fit bj7-bj8 but a bj7 and bj8 are the same. anyone out there need a black nos tonneau for a 1006? thats how i know! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif i was also able to buy a top/hood last summer nos with a "clip" rear window for $100.00 in the riginal box there still available on ebay, the rarer ones are those that have a "zipper" rear window at least that has been my findings.

Hi Ed, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

I'm curious .. what are the differences between the original BJ7 and BJ8 tonneaus? The Guidelines (at least my edition) don't call out a difference.

Also, FYI I see Moss has the clip-in window version of the hood in their catalog (and costs $200 more). I've also seen the BJ7 clip-in hood in the Robbins catalog. I tried to get Heritage to make it but they said they didn't think there was enough sales to make it worthwhile. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Cheers,
John

HI John. They are not different at least on this side of the coast they are the same excluding those early clip in type HOODS.One interpretation of the add could mean he has a cover for both type cars since they should be the same .You get a choice of colors why not a choice of fitments. However, this E-bayer is no novice to the AH Cars he has been at it a long time.---Keoke

The BJ7 and BJ8 tonneau cover are not the same. The BJ7 tonneau cover has Tenax snaps to fasten it to the top edge of the rear fold down tonneau panel and the side panels, while the BJ8 uses dome snaps on the inside edge and is cut and sewn differently in this area.

Well Richch, I dont know what a dome type snap is but my NOS BJ8 one picked up in England about 1965, uses tenax and liftadots with convertional snaps for the shoulder harness flaps and an all brass zipper.-Keoke-??

On a related topic, the hood (soft top)cover from Moss comes with two snaps on the cockpit side that don't attach to anything. I've seen almost all of these covers this way and I don't get it. Has no one complained? Has anyone come up with a neat way of attaching these snaps cause they sit way away form anything solid to put the male snap onto?

I do not know TH,the only thing I can think of is the two Tenax studs just to the rear of the doors, but the boot cover uses these and you are probably aware of them.---Keoke

OK TH, on the rear shroud should be three Male Tenax studs one in the middle and one on each side equally space from the middle one, kinda like in the corners my boot [HOOD] cover fastens to all three of these. There are seven of these fasteners all together attaching the boot cover. Inside the car above the drop down luggage panel are three button snaps that the cover fastens to inside the car???-Keoke

So, are there any special features I should be looking for? Seems like it makes sense to buy from Heritage or Moss.

Yes I think so too SgjCpa, it gives one more piece of mind.Dealing with E-bay sellers after the fact can be a problem and "E-bay is not much help".IMOP, Everflex Vinyl is the best way to go---Keoke
