Tonight's Poor Mechanic Award

Goes to me! I was painting my newly resurfaced exhaust manifold and manage to drop it on the concrete floor, busting the end flange off. Needless to say my mood change greatly for a period of time. I have emailed the PO, as he has another engine that he wanted to many dollars for, to see if that engine has a exhaust manifold. Maybe he will be nice as it is close to Christmas.
Anyone else have a stock exhaust manifold for a 74 TR6 twin pipe system that they would like to part with?
I am off working on the car for tonight.
Oh well when you stub your toe, hop around for awhile and then get going.
To a better tomorrow.

I have an agreement to buy a spare engine for my car from a 75 TR6. It has no emission pipes according to the owner. I'll see if I can get the manifold from it for you quickly. If not, I won't have it until two to three weeks and then you can have it.

He has to move a lot of things before he can get to delivering the engine. That is the delay and I told him earlier today that I didn't need it for a while.

i feel your pain. unfortunately the spare i have is the single pipe for a 71.

after 20 years i still remember how i felt after changing the oil in my first tr6 the first time, such an accomplishment for me at 16 years old! then, closing the hood with the rachet sitting on the valve cover instantly adding an outward ding the size of a half dollar on the nearly perfect hood! #@&!*

i've done worse since but for some reason that one haunts me.

This was in the trunk of mine when I got it. Is it what you need? I assume it's off a '71.

That looks like a "performance" header. Tubular steel, not cast.

Don, I looked at TRF and grimaced, once upon a time headers would have been on already, (like a certain 71 Chevelle, in my misspent youth). Now stock is where it is at. But if one must.

Julian, I really appreciate your offer. But no thank you. I am not sure what that is off of. I am still a novice ,but that don't look to stock to me.

That looks a lot like like the Moss header.
Clean it up and jet hot it and you'll be good to go.

Mark, You might have tonights award but....
Some 30 couple years ago after installing a spin on oil filter adapter from JC Worthless and changing the oil it was leaking between the block and the adapter. Grabbed a wrench and tightend...still leaked....tightened some more...
still leaking got ticked off torqued the heck out of it and broke the bolt off flush with the block.
Or the time I was taking the transmission tunnel out and let off the hand brake to clear the cover. Oh! There a piece of newspaper blowing down the driveway. Better pick that up. I pick it up, turn around and the TR is rolling down the driveway. I did have a chance to jump in and stop it but not until it crashed through the neighbors split rail fence a few feet from his house.

Well the response's so far have been uplifting and even a chuckle or 2. That helps alot. Wonder how far this will go!

I'll make this short. Once while following the step-by-step instructions to pull a VW motor (bogus, it turned out) I dropped it on my face! It's a miracle any of us, or our cars, survive. Been there. Done that. Got the scars.

I know where there's a complete TR6 engine.
The owner implied that it was free.
Would you like me to check on it?

Doug
Please do if it is the right year maybe we can work something out.
Randy, what kind of deal can we strike?
All we can do is get all the cards on the table and see.
Thanks everyone for the support

Not much! ... PM me an offer ... or do you have any parts to trade - that would be the best /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Nope, the poor mechanic award goes to a young woman,
a few years back, who was struggling at a gas station
with a quart of oil and hood open. I offered to help.

She was of the "liberated" sort and sharply told me she
could manage herself. She then poured the oil into her radiator and drove off.

Boy, do I know how THAT goes. Sometimes they're ("attitude": not gender specific, BTW!) arrogant enuff that they deserve the fruits of their ignorance. I'll go outta my way to help someone who's apparently about to do themselves damage. But when the response is similar to that I'll wait/watch.
AFTER the deed has run its course, laugh outrageously and THEN drive off. They'll get the joke later. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

i feel your pain. a few years ago i put in a new clutch in my saab 96. almost ready to put on the hood when i saw the throw out bearing on my workbench. ok, fresh in my mind i can do this again in another hour or two, set my tv (my only tv) on the roof for company and while yanking on the engine to get it loose again the tv slid off to the floor. quite spectacular! i had a drink and finished the next day.

I bet she burned more than her bra that day!
