Tom Magliozzi RIP

So sad. LOVED that laugh.

Such sad news. He was a great talent and wit. I like the fact that the photo of him they used was taken in his MG.

Man, that is a HUGE loss! What those guys did is nothing less than ground breaking. Think about it for a minute, they took "a car show" and made it into entertainment that crossed almost all boundaries. Poor Ray must be besides himself.

I found it hard to even open this thread when I read the title. What a loss; even if you weren't into cars or their repair, it was still fun to listen to Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers.
A great loss to all the listeners of NPR.
RIP Tom.

I agree 100%! Such a loss. May he rest in piece. PJ

Many don't know that they stopped doing the show maybe 2 years ago... and have been broadcasting mostly re-runs. It doesn't matter because: a) there are so many of them, they all seem fresh to me; and b) there are plenty of new people discovering them every day. Really a huge loss.

So sad. I love Car Talk. I'm glad we have the material he gifted to us all from all the years of the show. True good-guys!
Don't drive like my brother!

They've been my Saturday morning, out in the garage tinkering routine for years. Even this last Saturday I was listening while changing brake pads on the TR3. Sometimes they get a little corny, but they are always entertaining.

Sad to hear this.

Dam, really too bad, their show was truly entertaining and never got old. I loved driving around doing errands (hardware store, car parts store, etc.) on Saturday morning with the radio on, I am a little too fidgety of a person to feel relaxed just sitting around, but running errands while listening to click and clack is was just the perfect balance of doing something but no stress and a little "comfort food" type entertainment on the radio to pass the time, just one of those simple things in life that was so enjoyable.

I know they will probably keep running the shows, but listening will be a little different for a while.

"If it falls off, it doesn't matter." Tommy (posted on the CarTalk site)

I can picture him in his "sleek, black beauty" ('65 Ambassador), driving through the clouds, creating his own cloud with his cigar his mom constantly begged him to quit. "Those things will kill you!"

What joy he and his brother brought to so many.

Thank goodness for archives!
