Toe adjustment

I need some advice about adjusting the toe on my Austin Healey 3000. One side or the other lock nut must be reverse threaded, but I couldn't figure it out yet. Does anyone know which side is reverse threaded? Or am I wrong about this?
 
Use a 7/8" wrench.

Both sides pull forward on the wrench to loosen--clockwise as viewed from driver side.

Rotating the tie rod:

As viewed from the driver side, to front/clockwise = toe in; to rear/counter-clockwise = toe out.

If you want to make a tool to accurately measure toe-in:

TimK, You're right. One side is LH thread, the other end is RH tread. I think you need to get a closer look at the exposed threads to see wich one is LHT. I would think the RHT would go on the right side. Not one of my manuals however is specific about this. As an assembly the centre rod can be fitted the other way around.

I recently got my car off the jack stands and took it for a drive. Then I got out the toe gauge I constructed from your specifications and measured the toe-in as 1/8". This despite the fact that I was sure the wheels were towed out when it was up on jack stands -- it probably was, but the trick as you pointed out was to put it on the ground and roll it forward. Thanks again for your device/advice!
