Insterments seem to have some kind of a rubberey gasket between the beauty rim and the insterment its self. Are these replaceable with something?

Not that one, the one that goes inside the beauty ring and actually seals the unit, or is it the same on inside and out.

A large skinny O-ring will work.

yea you right, need 2" and 4" 2 of each, bet they hard to find. wonder what google says?

My local Ace Hardware had them in the plumbing department.

My word, I have an Ace, will check, thanks Biff. They can order if nothing else. Ace for the win.

There was a guy selling them on eBay for a while, too. I doubt that can beat an Ace, though.

Sorry, I couldn't help /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

but I did get the ball rolling /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

The ones on ebay are for between the instrument bezel and the dash face. Totally different.

Jack - Priority Mail package on way to you

oh, guys - when you buy new parts off eBay, make certain you're not paying anymore than 20% less than the Moss catalog...if you are, you're paying too much!

Roger that, eBay is sneaky. I have been only getting things that are not available but on parts cars. Except for wheels have not paid more than 10 bucks for any one item.

Thank you Tony, will have em to machine shop thru. when I go to Fort Walton to Dr. again, shop is almost next door.

Hello all,

I use a kit for 'O' rings which consists of the rubber cord and adhesive to make up rings of any size and section (using the cord I have available)
I don't know the manufacturer but the supplier is RS Components. www.rs-export.com, search for part number 159-1456. This will illustrate what I mean and I'm sure that you can find similar in the U.S.
The original rings were square section, I think, but I see no reason that round section rings will not work.

Alec

That's quite some kit, will see if something like that is available here.

You can buy square o-ring stock by the foot from places like McMaster-Carr (https://www.mcmaster.com/ , search part# 9700k11, then click 'compare products'). Since you aren't using it for a sealing operation like traditional o-rings you can cut it yourself without the kit and use superglue on the ends (that is esentially what the glue is in the kit) to make the gasket.

Outstanding Chris. Will check that out.

Here ya go. 3/32 square, color Black, .44 per foot. #9700K11
