I see fans yellow and fans red. What is correct for a bugey, yellow??
 
Jack, Bright yellow for yours. I've heard that early '58's had red ones. I've got a couple of red ones, but can't verify what they came from.

Early 9 pin bugeyes = RED
All others safety yellow
 
Jeff some of the later 9 pin cars could have had yellow fans. The change was made early in the first production run but no one knows at what vin the color changed.
 
Biff, my guess would be that the color changed when they ran out of the red fan blades. My 9 pin is in California, and I can't remember the VIN, but it's low.

When I replaced my radiator I decide to paint my blades. They were shabby silver. When they came apart they had red underneath. Mines from March of 59. They are again silver. I liked the look of them that way. Painted the thermostat housing and pulley and water pump at the same time.
 
Oh me, and just what is a 9 pin Bugeye.
 
The first run of Bugeyes the top snap on the top front of the windshield with 9 Lift-a-dot fasteners. Later that was changed to the two snaps on the outer ends with the bar in the middle. Just to add some more confusion to the fan issue the first Bugeyes had two blade red fans, then 4 blade red fans before the yellow 4 blade fans.
 
Think I then will have red or yellow fan, hehe.

I think the cutoff was HAN5-5476. After that, they were the later style.
They also take a different windscreen.
