Some weeks ago, I was contacted about a 1-owner Primrose RB MGB w/80,000 miles that's been sitting in the original owner's garage for years...factory hardtop, OD, AC, wires - all the bells & whistles - all the correct stuff in the boot...
At the time, the owner just wanted me to tell him if it was worth the money he thought he could get for it from a neighbor who wanted to buy it...it's solid except for the beginning of bubbling on a dogleg, hasn't run in years, has always been stored inside & has never been molested or modified - with a verifiable history....it just looks its age after normal use, doesn't appear to have anything really wrong with it that "Awakening" won't solve.
I told him he was asking a fair price & his neighbor would be lucky to get it.....naturally, I left my phone number & told him if the deal fell through to call me.
He did!
So, this morning I've gotta hook up the trailer & head out for a short drive.

UPDATED: Just got home with it..its a 1977 with 87,590 miles...I was wrong - no AC...but everything else is real nice...interior, top, all soft stuff in excellent shape...she'll not take much to turn into an $8,000 or more car...I always enjoy looking at an engine compartment that has had nothing done it it, that's totally original...its like opening a time capsule!
Interesting story behind the car: the old, original 1982 Alabama title looks much different than modern titles & I have the original aplication for an Alabama title when they brought the car into the US...the car was bought new in 1977 through AAFES (Army/Air Force Exchange System) while the guy was stationed in Germany (but, with his present-day heft, he couldn't get into an MG today if he had to!!)....last time it was licensed & on the street was 1995.

UPDATED AGAIN: Hehehehe....just opened the plastic cover for the owners manual...inside is a Leyland map of Germany titled "Verkauf und Kundendienst"...it has every Mini, Innocenti, Allegro, Maxi, Princess, Rover, Jaguar dealer in the country with their address & phone numbers & even their locations marked on the map!!
There's also the "Leyland Passport to Service" made out the the guy from whom I bought the car with the "Personal Export Delivery" instructions from the UK....the car was prepped at French & Foxwell on Brighton Road in Burgh Heath, Surrey, UK on 13 October 1977 before delivery to him & export to Germany (in those days, AAFES had sales desks where you went to buy your car then went to a dealer somewhere to pick it up)....he had the 1,500 mile service done on it at Leyland GmbH Zweigneiderlassung in Mannheim, Germany....interesting, I've got their name, address, & phone number in his service passport where he tood it for maintenance checks.
There's also a booklet titled "Leyland Service in Europe". Plus all the normal new car paperwork.
Then, there's all the paperwork from 1987 when a complete Midas exhaust system was installed when the car had 32,768 miles on it (wonder if Midas will honor their warranty - though the exhaust system still looks new?).
This is nifty!!
