Have crankshaft, new pistons, old rods and pistons, cam and two heads in back of truck, off to the machine shop soonish.
Oh also front engine mount plate as it needs the two holes near the crankshaft opening counter sinked for flat screws rather than bolts so the double timeing chain and gears will clear.

Shop is going to fit .040 over pistons, counter sink plate, recondition rods and balance them, install pistons long as they are there, balance crank shaft, and check rod and main bearing sizes, think they are standard. Rebuild head and level same.

I will have an engine to put in when I get to that point.

Hey Jack,

Can you swing by my place and drop my engine off, too. I am gonne need you to pull it for me.

Morris

Please help Jack, we are seeing the momentem building after the last time Jack lifted an engine.

Back from machine shop. He was ready, and had done some research. Has a computer for that kind of stuff. Knew all the sizes etc.
Checked cam, said it was fine and selected a head to rework. Commented that maybe one of the rods had some wear but would check with tools. Informed him that I had four more he could sellect from if necessary.
Now waiting for cam bearing from Tony, prob next week. He kept the cam shaft so he could get it fitted just right as he put it.
Oh yea is going to counter sink the two front plate holes so the timeing gear does not hit. duel chain, did not even need to explain what was needed or why, he knew.
Boy I am really impressed with these guys so far anyway.

I would love to help Jack, but his place is 22hours from mine (by Spridget). I was just bein' a wiseass.

Also, young though I am, my back is not much better than Jack's. I am putting the guy who invented Advil's kids through college.

Jack - maybe I just ned to ship things directly to your machine shop - hehehehe

Morris, I know that you were being a WA. no worries

I am about the same distance away as well.

We all have to do that big stretch when working on them for any period of time.

Tappet chest covers and rear engine plate, between engine and transmission, cleaned, striped and primed.

Just noticed, I am running out of parts to restore down here. Just might be finished by the end of next week. Will take a pic before I pack, box and lable em. Well that is but for the suspension. Still waiting on back to heal a bit more before I tear in that. But rest of the car is striped.

I got a thing that looks like a 3M pad for my drill. Boy does it take the rust and old paint off in a hurry. Going to have to get another one though, about wore it out.

I've got a shop full of BMW parts for you, as well as a 1500 engine ... You're welcome to come visit for awhile and help me out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You'd like to rebuild it for me? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Heh, I mean that I don't have time to restore all the bits I've got /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
