A revelation in fact:
I spent yesterday installing all the front suspension parts (bushes, springs and shocks) that have sat in a box in the dining room since I did the rear suspension about a month ago. The old ones were an odd mix between rubber and poly, and it was all in all in a pretty sad state.
I drove it this afternoon. For the first time since I got the car it drives like a sportscar should. It's no 996, but it will keep up with an older Miata in the twisties at least. Better tires and a less tired engine and it may be able to go past it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
There is light at the end of the tunnel!!!
Now all that's left for this year is to install the new exhaust and headers sitting on the garage floor - which will allow me to fit the rear swaybar. I'll fit the LSD when it arrives (and install the new u-joints, rubbers and a couple of helicoils on the halfshafts/trailing arms that are all sitting on a shelf). At least one rear hub needs a rebuild so I guess I should send it out at the same time. Next weekend I'll get new tires on the panasports - due to arrive Thursday - and have the alignment checked. Then finally it gets sent out for an engine rebuild when the weather gets a bit less clement.
Next year I have to redo the interior. The white has to go, although to be fair it's quite handy when the sun is beating down. I'll attach a pic so you can see what I mean. I also want to add a supercharger - if I can't have a V8, I'll try plan B. The jury is out on a short (top still goes up) rollbar.
The real sick thing is that the car drove ok when I got it. I was going to leave it alone for a couple of years before starting anything, but I changed the headlights for H4s and caught a disease. It's getting to be an expensive hobby...
